Design

While assessing each room individually, there are a few core modification that we recommend for all of our clients:

- Open Floor Plan: An open floor plan allows for our clients to navigate their space safely and seamlessly. Any obstacles between rooms and doorways offer unique challenges.

- Lighting Systems: Eye sight is a common concern to our clients. Designing efficient and powerful lighting is a fundamental element. Simple window replacement brings in natural light and also modernizes your home.

- Wider Doorways: While this isn't always necessary, we recommend widening doorways to make the space more breathable and easier to navigate. This is needed for some clients based on current health situations.

- No-step Entries: Steps, no matter the size, are hazardous to a home that is intended for aging in place.

- Color Palettes: This design element is simple but often overlooked. Many colors can aid to our depth perception  while other blend items that causes unnecessary challenges for most elderly individuals.

- Ramps: If your needs require using a wheelchair or a walker to get around, consider installing ramps both inside and outside  of your home. We will design a fluid solution that will be much easier to navigate and get around.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms are a hot spot for injuries.  A bathroom evaluation and redesign should not be overlooked.

- Adjustable Toilet: Today's toilets offer comfort for those who struggle to stand up, sit down and can assist in hygiene. Adding rails near your toilet will also offer extra support and safety.

- Walk-in Shower: A wide walk-in shower is significantly easier to maneuver than a bath tub. A non slick coating can be added to your floors to prevent form any slips and falls.

- Bathtubs: Many new bathtub solutions are available that can make simple design and safety changes offering daily comfort. These elements can be added or removed as needs change.

- Grab Bars: As mentioned above, adding rails near showers, sinks, bathtubs and toilets give extra support and comfort.
